Mowilex provided six wall colours for Chiharu Shiota’s The Soul Trembles, a solo installation on exhibit at Museum MACAN through April 2023.

Paint manufacturer PT Mowilex Indonesia (Mowilex), the official paint partner of Museum MACAN, is supporting respected artist Chiharu Shiota’s first solo exhibition in Indonesia. The expansive installation, titled The Soul Trembles, opened at Museum MACAN in November 2022 and is available for public viewing until April 30, 2023.

The museum chose six colours of Mowilex’s interior paint variant, Emulsion, for the exhibition walls surrounding The Soul Trembles. “Clean White code E-100” sets the backdrop near the exhibition entrance. “Dark Grey–Homeward Bound” covers surfaces midway through the experience. Mini Museum elements incorporate “Black Code E-200,” red “Sweet Bouquet,” light pink “Eye Candy,” and the pale, soft pink of “Canter Peach.”

This educational component inspires visitors—and children, in particular—to be more involved with the artwork.

The solo exhibition by Japan-born, Berlin-based Chiharu Shiota is on a global tour initiated and organized by Mori Art Museum, Tokyo. Before arriving in Indonesia, the installation appeared in the Busan Museum of Art (South Korea), Taipei Fine Arts Museum (Taiwan), Long Museum (Shanghai, Tiongkok), and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (Brisbane, Australia). Museum MACAN will be the work’s only stop in Southeast Asia.
