Retail Sales Manager

Job Summary:

The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the sales activities and operations of a retail store. They lead a team of sales associates, drive sales performance, and ensure exceptional customer service. The Retail Sales Manager develops and implements sales strategies, monitors inventory levels, and collaborates with other departments to optimize store performance and profitability.



  1. Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.
  2. Lead and motivate a team of sales associates, providing coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
  3. Monitor and analyze sales performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and store metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  4. Set sales targets and provide guidance to sales associates on achieving individual and team goals.
  5. Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  6. Maintain a thorough knowledge of products, promotions, and pricing to assist customers and drive sales.
  7. Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock availability and minimizing stock shortages and overages.
  8. Collaborate with the merchandising team to ensure effective product placement, displays, and promotions to drive sales.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers, and vendors.
  10. Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
  11. Stay updated with industry developments, new products, and market trends to provide recommendations for product assortment and sales strategies.
  12. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute marketing campaigns, promotions, and events.
  13. Analyze customer feedback and sales data to identify opportunities for improving customer experience and increasing sales.
  14. Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and budgets for management review.
  15. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, including visual merchandising guidelines, pricing policies, and customer service standards.


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Proven experience in retail sales, with at least [X] years in a management or supervisory role.
  3. Strong knowledge of retail operations, sales techniques, and customer service principles.

  12. Strong customer focus and commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience.
  13. Knowledge of specific industry products or market segments is a plus.
